Affiliate disclosure
In plain terms: we earn a commission when you buy through our links, it costs you nothing extra, and it does not change what we recommend.

How it works
When you click a buy link on this site and purchase something, Amazon pays us a small percentage of the sale. You pay exactly what you would have paid anyway — the commission comes out of Amazon's margin, not out of your pocket.
That is the whole business model. There is no subscription, no paywall, no advertising, and nothing on this site is paid for by a manufacturer.
Why Amazon, and not brand-direct programs
Because Amazon is where the products we cover are actually bought, and because we only build tracked links for programs we have genuinely joined. We list manufacturer sites — Westinghouse, Generac, Champion, DuroMax, Honda, Jackery, EcoFlow, Bluetti, Reliance Controls and Eaton — but only as plain citations to their spec sheets, never as a buy button, because we hold no tracking relationship with any of them.
If that changes, we will say so here. What will not change is the ordering rule: where Amazon is cheaper than a brand-direct option, Amazon is the link, even if the direct program pays more. Buyer-first beats commission.
What the commission does not affect
- Which products we cover. Chosen from keyword research about what people are actually trying to solve.
- How they rank. Scored against published criteria for the category, not by commission rate.
- What a review says. Every product carries at least one real limitation — the data model makes it mandatory, because a recommendation with no downside reads as an advert.
- Whether we recommend buying at all. Several pages conclude you may not need to buy anything. Our page on how long food lasts in an outage tells you that if your outages are under four hours you have no problem to solve.
How our prices work
No price appears in prose anywhere on this site. Every price you see comes from a live data feed, carries the date it was checked, and is subject to a freshness gate: past 48 hours it disappears and the button falls back to "check price".
Prices change constantly and we cannot promise one is current at the moment you read it. What we can promise is that we will never show you an old number as if it were today's — if we do not have a current figure, the page says so.
How links are marked
Every commercial outbound link carries `rel="sponsored nofollow noopener"`, opens in a new tab, and is routed through our own resolver so the tracking tag exists in exactly one place in the codebase. Every page with buy links also carries a visible disclosure above the first one.
Links to standards bodies, government agencies and manufacturer spec sheets are ordinary citations and carry no tracking at all.

Questions people actually ask
Does it cost me more to buy through your links?
No. You pay exactly what you would pay anyway. The commission comes out of Amazon's margin rather than being added to your price.
Does commission affect your rankings?
No. Products are scored against published criteria for their category. Where Amazon is cheaper than a brand-direct option, Amazon is the link even if the direct program would pay more.
Why do you only link to Amazon?
Because we only build tracked links for programs we have actually joined, and Amazon is where the equipment we cover is bought. Manufacturer sites appear as plain citations to spec sheets, never as buy buttons, since we hold no tracking relationship with them.
Why do some products show no price?
Either no current price came back from the feed, or the data has aged past our 48-hour freshness window. Either way we show no number rather than an old one, and the button falls back to "check price".
Do you accept free products from manufacturers?
No. We do not accept review units, so there is nothing to return and nothing to feel obliged about. We also do not operate a test lab — see our methodology.
